Lets have a look at a really compact compound mitre saw that is fantastic for a lot of jobs and won’t break the bank. The Evolution R210CMS has a huge range of features that will take on many jobs and it also has a lot of benefits that the sliding mitre saws don’t have.

One thing you can’t argue with is the Evolution R210CMS price. You get a huge amount of saw for your money. For a lot of DIY users you need a wide range of power tools to cover all of the day to day jobs in the house. This can get expensive if you buy high end models for all jobs. The reality is you may not need them. If you are leaving a lot of the heavy cutting and construction to builders a larger sliding mitre saw may be over kill for you.

You can cut some very accurate angles with a 0 to 45 degrees adjustment and a 45 to -45 degrees mitre adjustment.

The mitre adjustments have easy lock in points for commonly used angles which are 0, 15, 22.5, 30, and 45 degrees.

This a good range of angles and covers most jobs.

The Blade

As with all of the Evolution saws this model comes with a super versatile 210mm 20 tooth blade that will cut wood, plastic, aluminum and some other metals.

This is a great feature on a saw that is easy to move about and use. You won’t have to keep changing the blade unless it for a very specific job.

The bore is 25.4 mm which fits other Evolution blades and has a kerf of 1.7mm.

Portability and Storage

This is where this model really comes into it’s own. It is very light at 5.8 kilos compared the
sliding mitre saws like the R210SMS at 11.2kg. If you need to carry it around with other kit it is going to be very easy.

In terms of storage it is easy to pack away in a garage or the boot of a car. The dimensions are 260 wide by 393 high and 381 deep compared to the R210SMS which is 314mm deep by 575mm high by 610mm wide. It’s a considerable difference if you are tight on space.

Safety

The Evolution R210CMS safety features are as you would expect. A cast aluminum black blade guard that automatically opens and closes as the saw is pulled down to cut.

There is a dust port so that you can attach a dust bag or a dust collection device if you are in a particularly dusty area.
